Verbeeg are giants who live among hill giants and ogres, using their greater intelligence to order the others around. Verbeeg are never found alone; they are always encountered with hill giants or ogres, and sometimes worgs.

Verbeeg vary in height from 8 ½ to 10 feet tall, and weigh between 300 and 400 lbs. They are very thin for their height, but this does not affect their combat ability. Some have minor deformities, such as club foot, uneven eyes, hair lips, etc. They otherwise appear as large humans, with any skin, hair, or eye color. They wear whatever armor and wield whatever weapons they can steal.

Verbeeg clans live in mountain caves, and are ruled by a shaman (cleric or adept) and warrior chieftain. The chieftain makes decisions concerning hunting, war, and negotiations with strangers and other tribes. The shaman passes judgement based on the clan's laws, and also is responsible for all decisions concerning magic. Most magic items owned by the clan are in the shaman's possession.

Verbeeg speak Giant. Those of exceptional intelligence (12 or higher) also speak Common.

Combat
Verbeeg never enter combat first. They will order their larger, less intelligent companions in first to soften up the enemy, then engage once the foe is weakened, leading with thrown spears.
